Back to Brazil, day 1

I guess I became more like a Finn than I had thought at first. No speaking to anyone in the plane, enjoying the silence for many hours, thinking about going back, about Matias staying behind, about the snow and the cold... And realising I was really going to miss it all, Finland with all its good and bad things.

But arriving in Brazil was a good surprise, at least in the first contact in the airport. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY was so nice and smiling, helpful, shining in their own ways. It felt really good to be a Brazilian, to be back home.

The trip was okay. No major events, except a quite strong turbulence arriving in São Paulo. One of those that the plane drops some meters, making everyone scream like in a roller coaster. Except it happened three times in a row, and the lady in the other side of the corridor started to panic and not be able to breathe. I was scared she would have a heart attack and die right there. (For future reference, the trick of breathing in a paper bag really works.)

The flight to Brasilia was also uneventful, but I was really tense for some reason. Shaking, even, maybe because I was cold, maybe because I was scared. The mister sat by my side was a mayor of some small city in the South of Brazil, and kept trying to calm me down. He had some nice conversation about a lot of things, trips, vegetarianism, a bit of politics.

Arriving in Brasilia, a small problem. One of my (huge) bags was missing. The flight I was in would continue to São Luis, but I noticed the bag missing early enough that the guy from TAM had time to ask people to check the plane if the bag was left behind. And it was there. So it was almost lost but not really. And then again, the friendliness of the guy was amazing... Asked me where I was coming from, how were my studies, how was Finland, and told me of a friend who lived in Russia for four years. So easy to make friends here.

At home I was chatting with my mom and brother, before going to sleep at 3am local time. Apart from some half an hour nap in the plane, that meant that I was awake for some 27 hours. I was very tired and felt asleep pretty much right away.
